- This project is aimed at recognizing the handwritten numerals. There are a lot of methods to recognize a pattern like pattern recognition etc. but we have chosen the approach, which is new and challenging i.e. Genetic Algorithm (GAs). Through this project we try to show the concept of handwritten numeral recognition, but not the entire application. Some of the applications to which the project can be enhanced are alphabet recognition, postal character recognition, cheque processing etc.
- The genetic algorithm is more interesting because of its similarity to Darwin’s theory of evolution. It involves some of the proved and hypothetical, operations like mutation and crossover, which are acting as the building blocks of this project.
- Even though we have done the project, to a challenging extent, some improvements are yet to be done and some disadvantages are to be tackled.
